Fund Drive Victor Farmington Volunteer Ambulance has always relied on generous funding from our annual fund drive mailed into our community served each year. Dedicated volunteers prepare your ambulance fund drive every year, which allows 100% of the funds donated to be used towards capital improvements and general ambulance operational costs. In addition to ambulance volunteers, the fund drive relies on a group of our local senior citizens every year to assist with the day-long operation of stuffing and sealing envelopes The fund drive is mailed annually during the month of June and a second mailing is sent in the month of October. Our fund drive accounts for 9.1% of dollars used to provide and improve ambulance service to the community. The ambulance relied primarily on fund drive donations and other special fund drive events to fund operations and capital purchases from 1970 - 1995. The ambulance Corps was forced into evaluating alternative funding methods to keep pace with rising costs. In 1996, Victor Farmington became the first ambulance department in Ontario County to implement 3rd party billing. 3rd party billing is a method in which the patient transported to a hospital has their insurance company billed for services rendered. This method of funding was chosen in lieu of requesting a tax to property owners in the community for several reasons. One primary reason is that our community has a large amount of commuter traffic, employment, and retail shopping that attracts many people who live outside the community. The increasing costs from these factors would be burdensome to the residents who live within each town. The concept of billing only those who use the ambulance service became the best way to ensure funding for the ambulance corps.
